Salma Ali

Salma Ali is a leading human rights activist in Bangladesh, an Ashoka Fellow and Executive Director of Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers Association. She helped draft the Domestic Violence Law and has been in the forefront for the struggle for women's equal rights in Bangladesh . She's also worked on issues of trafficking, the rights of sex workers and women's political participation. Presently, she is aiding the proper implementation of the SAARC Convention on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Women and Children for Prostitution. In addition, she is lobbying for the adoption of Minimum Standards Care for trafficked survivors, for the provision of Victim & Witness protection and for creating alternative livelihood options for trafficked survivors.
