Publishing and Disseminating Materials

The Unit is constantly in the process of developing, devising and disseminating practical and useful material that promotes human rights and can be used by those most affected to obtain knowledge of their legal rights, done through various forms including the Unit's quarterly newsletter 'Positive Dialogue', 'Know Your Rights' leaflets translated into several Indian languages, posters, articles

in the Law Co-operative's magazine 'The Lawyers', through Lawyers Collective's website, contribution to other journals, resource volumes on key issues and a manual on HIV/AIDS and the Law. The aim of the Unit has been to have all these materials disseminated and translated into multiple Indian languages.

The Unit has published :-

  • Leaflets (on rights of PLHAs, sexual minorities and the law, access to medication, employment and HIV - in 7 languages),
  • Posters on discrimination,
  • Employment and healthcare in the context of HIV/AIDS (in 2 languages),
  • a quarterly Newsletter ('Positive Dialogue') on HIV and law,
  • monthly articles in the Lawyers Collective magazine and a website

In its 10 years from 1998 the Unit has disseminated approximately :-

  • 1,49,132 leaflets,
  • 11,211 posters,
  • 16,141 copies each of 20 newsletters,
  • 12,000 AMTC newsletter,
  • 750 brochures and
  • 575 HIV/AIDS Bill 2007 editions.

This material of the Unit is disseminated to all parts of India and abroad.
