From Campaign to Monitoring: Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005

This depicts the challenging process undertaken by in conjunction with other women’s rights organizations, towards coalition creation and consensus building on drafting and implementing the law. It also reflects our engagement with other stakeholders to facilitate the legislative process. A central issue which this highlights is the need for governments to formalize and institutionalize and evaluation of gender laws. Another concern which has been focused on is the need for a coordinated and integrated policy response from the diverse stakeholders as well as stronger partnerships between them.
